From Couch Surfing to His First Welding Paycheck
Five high schools in four years. No state ID. When he walked into our fellowship, all he wanted was someone who would pick up the phone twice in a row.
Darnell changed schools five times in four years. He had stuck with welding through every one of them, which told us more about him than any transcript could.
What he did not have was a birth certificate, a state ID, a bank account, or a ride. Fourteen months later he has all four, plus an apprenticeship and a lease one mile from the shop.
None of that happened because of a programme. It happened because somebody kept making calls until a fabrication shop called back.
