The central commitment
We are the connection point.
When a young adult in Waller County has nowhere to sleep, no ride to work, no birth certificate, and no one in their corner — we are the first call. We stabilize what’s urgent, then we stay: for the license, the job, the degree, the first house. Not a program you graduate out of. A family that doesn’t leave.

Unsupported young adults, ages 18 to 30.
Some are in college. Some are in trade school. Some are just looking for work. What they share is that nobody is coming to help them move in, cover the deposit, or answer the phone at eleven at night.
Most were raised by relatives, aged out of foster care, or were told at eighteen that they were on their own. They are not short on ability. They are short on backup.

1. Housing
Move-in costs underwritten, placements found, landlords called.

Groceries, meals, and knowing what to do with them.

Rides to work and school until a first paycheck lands.

Employer relationships, apprenticeships, interviews, references.

Harvest witness · Real trajectory
“If I hadn’t been part of this ministry, I’d be in jail, dead, or working fast food. That was the trajectory of my life.”
He came to us at seventeen, a freshman with a recommendation from his pastor and a hard road behind him. It wasn’t smooth. He graduated anyway. He met his wife through this ministry. They both became teachers, both finished master’s degrees, and he was named teacher of the year.
That is what we mean by harvest. One life changes, and it keeps changing lives long after ours are done.

Geography of calling
Prairie View, and all of Waller County
Prairie View is a small rural town built around a historically Black university, with no grocery store, no clinic, and few jobs. The students come from far and wide. The families have been here for generations. There is more distance between the two than there should be.
We work in both, and in Hempstead, Waller, and Hockley, because that is where the resources are — and because the young adults who need us are not all on campus.

Seed 2 Harvest Community Outreach is an independent 501(c)(3). Harvest Oaks, S2 Property Management, and Harvest Innovative Solutions are separate for-profit companies. Participants are housed wherever housing is best for them, and living in Harvest Oaks is never a condition of our support.
